Metal weight

UPN section weight table

UPN (UNP) sections are taper flange channels, used for frames, chassis, stairs and secondary structures. Below is the theoretical weight of 18 common sizes, in steel with a density of 7.85 g/cm³.

Calculation formula

kg/m = section area (cm²) × 0.785. For HEA, HEB, HEM and IPE the area is calculated exactly from h, b, tw, tf and the root radius r per EN 10365; for INP, UPN and UPE the manufacturers’ tabulated area is used.
